Introduction
Kodokushi means ‘lonely death’ in Japanese. It’s a fate that Yoji, who lives an isolated life, seems consigned to, until a profound loss compels him to travel to the Philippines, accompanied by the kind nurse who aided his mother. However, on his arrival, Yoji begins to learn that despite its warm, communal embrace, the Philippines has its own dark secrets.
