Introduction

Deep in France’s Vosges mountains, Munier (The Velvet Queen) and his 12-year-old son join his father, a naturalist, to observe lynx, deer, owls, and perhaps the rare capercaillie, in their natural habitat. Capturing the wonder and majestic pace of this environment, alongside its sounds and stories told in candlelight, Munier presents a resplendent, rhapsodic reminder of the extraordinary world we live in.
