Jennifer Baichwal’s riveting portrait of large format photographer Edward Burtynsky captures him at work, shooting vast Chinese factory complexes, a shipping graveyard in Bangladesh and observing the construction of China’s monumental Three Gorges Dam project. The scale of industrialisation is both breathtaking and terrifying, capturing the enormity of human achievement and a portent of what such activity means for the world we are transforming.
See Manufactured Landscapes with intro by Jennifer Baichwal, Nicholas de Pencier and Edward Burtynsky on Friday 16 February.
