Sheffield Middleweight boxer Matty Burton collapses on the floor of his living room, to the horror of his wife Emma. It’s the result of a life-threatening brain injury that emerged following a successful title defence, organised before his planned retirement from the sport. Matty awakens from a coma, having lost his memory and many of his physical and neurological abilities. Taking us through Matty’s turbulent journey to recovery, Considine’s powerful second feature as director highlights the dangers faced by boxers in the ring and the impact this can have upon their family, friends and sense of self.
The screening of Journeyman on Monday 20 April will be presented with Descriptive Subtitles.
