Danny Flynn, a former youth boxer and IRA member, returns to Belfast after a 14-year stint in prison, determined to to reform himself and give back to his community by reopening his now-derelict former boxing club. However, when his attempts to resume both his boxing career and his relationship with childhood girlfriend Maggie incur the wrath of the IRA hierarchy, Danny’s fight moves outside the ring and onto the streets.
The screening of The Boxer on Tuesday 14 April will include a Q&A with boxer Barry McGuigan.
