Introduction

Davenport (I Didn’t See You There) investigates the case of Elizabeth Bouvia, who sought the right to die in 1983 and ignited a national debate about autonomy and the value of disabled lives. Exploring Bouvia’s fate and the relevance of her story today, Davenport centres voices from the disabled community, amplifying those fighting for justice and against the values of the society we live in.
