Introduction
Through powerful narratives, filmmakers reveal the precarious everyday realities of renting, overcrowded living conditions and food insecurity, which indelibly shape the lives of those affected. These portrayals challenge audiences to see beyond generalisations and understand the emotional and physical toll of economic hardship. By focusing on the intimate details of struggle and resilience, these stories illuminate the personal cost of a society facing growing challenges. Join us for a discussion that uncovers how art and storytelling give voice to experiences often overlooked, fostering empathy and a deeper awareness of poverty’s true impact.
Hosted by Jennifer Jasmine White, writer and doctoral researcher at the University of Manchester.
