Introduction
Gaming culture and film language have been increasingly intertwining, reshaping how stories are told and experienced. This panel dives into the dynamic exchange between these two mediums – showing how the immersive, interactive nature of video games influences cinematic storytelling techniques, visual aesthetics and narrative structures.
We’ll explore how game design elements like player agency, branching narratives and real-time decision-making are inspiring filmmakers to rethink pacing, character development and audience engagement. Conversely, film’s rich history of visual storytelling continues to inform game narratives, cinematics and world-building. Our discussion will highlight examples where these influences merge and consider what this cross-pollination means for the future of entertainment.
Join us as we unpack the evolving dialogue between gaming and film, and examine how this fusion is transforming the language of both industries.
