Introduction

Ahead of the Animated Shorts for Younger Audiences screening, travel from Japan to Germany through the magic of animation. Explore the colourful, expressive style of Studio Ghibli by designing your own anime-inspired character, then discover the enchanting world of Lotte Reiniger’s shadow-puppet films by crafting dramatic silhouette scenes from cut-out shapes. Blending drawing, storytelling and hands-on making, this session introduces young creators to two very different ways of bringing stories to life on screen, while celebrating the global diversity of animation.
