COVID-19 statement - BFI Southbank

Update on BFI Southbank

In line with the new government regulations, BFI Southbank will close from Thursday 5 November and all screenings from this date onwards will be cancelled. All screenings from 1 to 4 November will go ahead as expected.

The temporary closure will last until at least 2 December, however we will continue to review the situation in line with the latest government advice and we will keep you informed regarding any changes.

Also, please note that we are temporarily suspending advance booking for December’s programme and we will confirm the revised booking dates as soon as possible.

We look forward to welcoming you back to our cinemas once it is safe to do so. In the meantime, head over to BFI Player where you’ll find the latest new releases, alongside our curated collection of classic and cult films to watch at home. All online events and educational workshops will continue as planned.

If you have purchased a ticket for any event or screening at BFI Southbank between 5 and 30 November and you haven’t already been contacted by our box office please submit a request and they will get back to you as soon as they can. This applies even if you would like to donate the cost of your ticket to the BFI. We would ask that all refund requests are submitted by 30 November at the latest.

Throughout this year we’ve been overwhelmed by the amount of support and goodwill we’ve had from audiences, partners, supporters and filmmakers during these unprecedented times and we sincerely thank you.

The BFI is a charity and we rely on your support to help us not only run screenings at BFI Southbank and year-round at our festivals, but also to preserve and exhibit the national film and TV collection, and inspire and support filmmakers of the future.

We are extremely grateful for any donations to the BFI at this time.
