Introduction

From Eastbourne Town F.C. to Raja Club Athletic, Casablanca, ultras are everywhere. Ragnhild Ekner’s perceptive and layered documentary builds a picture of a culture fuelled as much by creativity, passion and community as by machismo and violence. Her love letter to supporter culture is as expansive as it is surprising, touching on psychology and resistance, and foregrounding the fundamental social importance of ultra culture.
