Introduction

Mitevska challenges every trope of the period biopic with her portrait of Anjezë Gonxhe Bojaxhiu, aka Mother Teresa. Set over the course of one frenetic week, it finds the restless, charismatic nun struggling to bury a potentially disruptive scandal, and confronting the Catholic Church’s patriarchy in order to establish her own religious order, all the while drifting into a delirium of devotional fervour.
