You know you’re in Herzogian territory when you hear questions like: “Can your dishwasher fall in love with your refrigerator?” Werner Herzog, the grand master of the documentary, returns with a unique and idiosyncratic 10-chapter examination of the Internet. He shifts from the birth of the Web to its widespread influence on contemporary society. Interviewing a broad range of specialists and the odd eccentric, Herzog considers with his usual wit and humour the positives and vicissitudes of our increasingly connected world, from business and education to space travel and healthcare. And he assesses how it affects our personal relationships. Unsurprisingly, Herzog is not a Twitter fan. He prefers instead to look at the stars. In Lo and Behold, he reflects, with that meditative voice of his, on the more philosophical properties of the Web, wondering if it might even be capable of dreaming.
