Emanuel Pârvu’s Cannes Queer Palm winner is an uncompromising and urgent drama that examines bigotry and the suffocating, often nefarious nature of small-town dynamics.

Introduction
Seventeen-year-old Adi is his parents’ pride. When he is brutally beaten, it is clear that the attack was driven by homophobia. Adi’s sexuality comes as a surprise and exposes him to unspeakable indignities, even making him a trading tool in his father’s dealings with the town’s moneylender. This stunningly shot drama is a compelling reminder that for some life is far easier away from the family home.
