Introduction

Adapted from Daisy Johnson’s novel Sisters, Labed’s (Attenberg, Trigonometry, Flux Gourmet) film explores the dynamic between a single mother and her two daughters, who have created their own unique world that finds them living at one remove from their peers. Disturbingly playful in tone, the sibling’s imposed rules and games take a sinister turn as the youngest starts to assert her independence, breaking the tie the pair once had.
