After Tangerine (LFF 2015) and The Florida Project (LFF 2017), Sean Baker summons another tragicomic story from life in the margins. Simon Rex stars as Mikey, once a successful porn star in Los Angeles, now banging on the door of his ex-wife Lexi (Bree Elrod) in the poor industrial suburb where she lives with her mother. Mikey soon falls back on his old ways, dealing weed for a buck, but his curiosity is piqued by a pretty redhead Strawberry (Suzanna Son), who works in a doughnut shop. Mikey has his eye on Strawberry and excitedly makes plans for her to join him in his big adult movie comeback after her 18th birthday. But can smalltown dreams come true, or is Mikey just a loser living in the past?
