Introduction

Little orphan Nana is taken in and raised by her grandmother. Navigating life in Fogo proves difficult for Nana as she watches her loved ones drift away, and when a fever-like illness afflicts her, she is forced to seek traditional treatment at the foot of a volcano. But in this simply told, yet richly evocative tale, Nana finds healing and redemption in the friendships she forges.
