The 62nd BFI Film Festival is delighted to welcome back Arts Council England to present two professional development and public events as part of Experimenta, in partnership with LUX.
The Experimenta programme will open with the Experimenta Debate – Representation and Praxis, organised in partnership with not/nowhere which will examine positions on representation in visual culture, and to what extent visibility of subjects on screen correlate to those same subjects’ agency and sovereignty in praxis. For the Anatomy of a Film Production we will delve deep into the fascinating production history and process of Doozy, Richard Squires’ hybrid animated documentary portrait of Paul Lynde, the crazed voice behind many 1960-70s cartoon villains.
not/nowhere invites artists working with the moving image to discuss their positions on representation in visual culture.
Examine the creative process, focusing on Richard Squires’ new long-form work Doozy.
