DJ Night: Black Bus Stop
Fri 11 Oct 21:00-01:00
BFI Bar & Kitchen, BFI Southbank
Black Bus Stop, which screens in our Experimenta Strand as part of the Strategies of Refusal programme, pays tribute to an iconic university gathering spot where young black students gathered in the eighties and nineties listening to music, talking politics, dancing, and flirting. Come and hang out at our own gathering spot, the BFI Bar & Kitchen, and dance and flirt to classic hip hop and RnB from the 80s/90s with DJ collective BORN N BREAD.
BORN N BREAD are a creative collective of friends, with a wide range of multiple disciplines such as: photography, videography, styling, creative direction and brand consultancy. Since forming in 2014 they have released three sold-out zines. As well as hosting a bi-monthly music and lifestyle radio show on the independent radio station NTS, where they regularly interview artists, they host IRL events and DJ in a broad range of spaces and festivals locally and internationally. With a strong sisterly bond the south London creatives continue to break barriers with smashing doors down for the younger generation of DJs and creatives.
