Introduction

Mapplebeck has chronicled her life on film from when she became a parent, single-handedly raising her son Jim through his teenage years, fighting breast cancer and tackling the challenges of the pandemic. It’s an impressive testament to life in all its glory: the joy, the pain and the mess. Beyond the pleasures of the film’s rich emotional intelligence, witnessing Jim transform into an articulate, funny and self-reflective individual is a heartwarming experience.
