High school freshman Hodaka Morishima leaves his home on an isolated island and moves to Tokyo, but he quickly finds himself in financial trouble. Living his days in isolation, he eventually lands a job as a writer for a shady occult magazine. Then one day in an alley, Hodaka meets a young girl named Hina Amano, bright and strong--willed, who possesses a strange and wonderful ability: the power to stop the rain and clear the sky.

Since making his debut with the self-animated short film Voices of a Distant Star in 2002, Makoto Shinkai has grown to become one of Japan's greatest anime directors, specialising in spectacular features that come filled with high concepts and even higher emotions. To mark the release of his new film, the smash-hit Suzume, revisit his box-office record-breaking blockbuster, the bodyswap sci-fi romance Your Name, and his fantasy-tinged follow-up, the climate-crisis fable Weathering With You, in special versions that make the most of the sound and screen-size of IMAX. Then, discover the supernatural disaster movie Suzume on the UK's biggest cinema screen.

This special screening will be introduced by Michael Leader and Jake Cunningham, co-hosts of the podcast Ghibliotheque and co-authors of The Ghibliotheque Anime Movie Guide, which charts a path through the wildly creative and influential anime industry with 30 standout feature films, from Akira to Your Name. Following each screening, Jake and Michael will be selling and signing copies of the Ghibliotheque Anime Movie Guide and their previous book, Ghibliotheque: The Unofficial Guide to the Movies of Studio Ghibli.
