Sandra Bullock plays scientist Dr Ryan Stone, who finds herself trapped above the Earth when the debris from a destroyed satellite, travelling at the speed of a bullet, tears apart her spacecraft. Using all her wits, Stone tries to figure out a way to get home before the orbiting debris returns. Employing state-of-the-art visual effects and digital 3D technology, Cuarón creates a white-knuckle-ride of a film that is also breathtakingly beautiful and questions our place within the vast expanse of the universe. Originally premiering in the UK at the 2013 London Film Festival, where it received a rapturous reception, we are delighted to welcome Alfonso Cuarón 's sci-fi masterpiece on the UK's largest screen.
Please join us for this special presentation of the film followed by an in conversation Q&A with director Alfonso Cuarón and fellow critically acclaimed filmmaker Gaspar Noé (Irreversible, Enter the Void, Climax and Vortex), contributor to the Sight and Sound Top 100 Greatest Films of All Time as well as nominations for the Palme d'Or for both Irreversible and Enter the Void and winner of the Best Art Cinema Award at the Cannes Film Festival for Climax.
