We offer a number of access screenings, Q&As and events.
Descriptive subtitles (DS)
On-screen subtitles that include descriptions of non-dialogue audio.
BSL
British Sign Language (BSL) interpreted introductions, Q&As, and events – seats are allocated to ensure a clear view of the interpreter.
Audio description (AD)
Audio narration including descriptions of key visual elements of the film – headphones available on request.
Relaxed cinema screenings
Relaxed screenings for neurodivergent audiences, others that would appreciate that environment, and their companions and assistants.
Closed Captions (CC) via WatchWord smart glasses
Screenings with subtitles that include descriptions of non-dialogue audio via WatchWord smart glasses.
Live captioning
Events with on-screen live captioning.
Short films on BFI Player
All English language BFI Flare 2026 short films that are available on BFI Player will be made accessible with Closed caption (CC) subtitles, which include descriptions of non-dialogue audio.
