Raised in a strict religious kibbutz, Saar moved to London from Israel 17 years ago, leaving behind a family unable to accept his gay identity. Saar’s liberated life brought with it a new relationship, but when his three-year love affair unexpectedly ended, he began experimenting with hard drugs and casual sex, eventually resulting in an HIV diagnosis. Afraid and isolated, Saar subsequently found solace in the open arms of the London Gay Men’s Chorus, providing him with the friendship and acceptance he needs. And, of course, some much needed music therapy too. Punctuated by footage of rousing – and sometimes unexpected – choral performances, Who’s Gonna Love Me Now? is a heartfelt exploration of one man’s journey towards self-acceptance and the lengths we all travel to find a home. Some families we are born into. Others we create for ourselves.
