ADDITION TO BFI FLARE EXPANDED PROGRAMME

We are pleased to announce the below addition to the BFI Flare Expanded programme, our free, immersive storytelling exhibition from 16 to 19 March.

TREASURE IS THE JOURNEY
Created by Nia Fekri and GolCHER
With the Pride of Arabia (POA) Archive
Language: English, no subtitles
Created using archival material and testimonies from the POA community, "Treasure is the Journey" is a reflection on the co-formation of identities and communities as an ever-continuing process, a permanent incomplete. Considering certainty as a non-necessity for self expression, the collective encourages us to embrace a constant state of fluidity and flux as a mode of existence in its own right. POA is a feminist, queer, anti-capitalist community committed to a world-building practice and focused on unlearning embodied racism, capitalist value systems and colonial approaches to history. The group celebrates interdependence and centres LGBTQI+, SWANAs, migrants and POCs who are navigating their identities and finding community in politics of care, resource sharing and knowledge production. Special Presentation by Pride of Arabia (POA)

SPOTLIGHT ON SOUTH KOREA
Sat 18 Mar 16:00 The Blue Room

Since the South Korean LGBT rights movement emerged in the 1990s, film portrayals of queer characters and non-heterosexual relationships have steadily increased and this year's BFI Flare includes four features (XX+XY, Life Unrehearsed, The Dream Songs and PEAFOWL) and a short (Butch Up!) from South Korea. In this event we shine a spotlight on South Korean filmmakers attending the Festival who will discuss their films, the history of LGBTQIA+ cinema in South Korea, and their experiences of making queer films in the East Asian country. This is a free event. Admission is on a first come, first served basis.
