Introduction
Poet, writer and activist Staceyann Chin was abandoned by her mother as a baby. Decades later, she is now solo-parenting a nine-year-old daughter with deep intentionality and care. Interspersed with spellbinding archival poetry performances, A Mother Apart is an intimate portrait of a woman rebuilding her connection to her mother, sister and her past.
