When can I book tickets to the Festival?

• Monday 25 February: Patron Member special booking service opens 10:00 AM
• Monday 25 February: Champion Member extra priority booking opens 11:30 AM
• Tuesday 26 February: Member priority booking opens at 11:30 AM
• Thursday 28 February: Non-Member booking opens at 11:30 AM
• Thursday 14 March: Second ticket release at 11:30 AM

Many Festival events and screenings will sell out to BFI Members before public booking opens. Find out more about the benefits of Membership at bfi.org.uk/join.

Will there be any more tickets released?

Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis to all events and screenings so many will sell-out to Members before public booking opens.

However, any tickets returned to us by our partners will be released for sale to the public on 14 March at 11:30 AM. In addition, you can try your luck in the returns queue from 30 minutes before each performance at BFI Southbank.

How do I book tickets to the Festival?

You can also come and book in person at BFI Southbank when your booking opens or return a completed booking form to us.

All booking methods open at the same time and, for the best chance of getting the tickets you want, we recommend that you book online as soon as your booking opens as we can handle a higher number of simultaneous bookers by this method.

Festival tickets are very popular so please expect waiting time by all booking methods. Thank you for your patience.

How do I log in to book tickets online?

Log in with your email (username) and password at bfi.org.uk/myfestival.

Always log in before you start booking to ensure that you can access any booking benefits available to you. We recommend that Members log in before priority booking opens to check that the relevant priority booking date displays as this will avoid any unnecessary delays to booking.

We recommend that Non-Members create an account before public booking opens if they’ve not booked online with us before.

How many tickets can I book?

During priority booking (until 28 February), tickets are limited to two per performance or four if it is a family or 12+ event or screening.

How many performances can I book?

You can book tickets to as many performances as you like in the same transaction. When booking online, to continue shopping, simply return to the BFI Flare website to add tickets to another performance to your basket.

Can I book tickets to BFI Flare and BFI Southbank online at the same time?

It’s not possible to book tickets to both these programmes in the same transaction. The Festival has a separate website to ensure we can manage the increased volume of bookers. The system will recognise your online account at both sites, but please make sure that you log in for Festival tickets at bfi.org.uk/myfestival and for BFI Southbank tickets at bfi.org.uk/myaccount.

How do I book tickets to the Opening and Closing Night Galas?

Tickets to the Opening and Closing Night Galas will be available for booking, on a first come, first served basis, as soon as your booking opens.

How do I get my tickets?

If you select the mail out option when booking, please allow up to ten days for your tickets to be mailed out to you. Please note that we will only mail out tickets on bookings made up to ten days before the performance.

You can also collect your Festival tickets from the Ticket Office at BFI Southbank (11:00 AM-8:30 PM) in advance or on the day of the performance. For bookings made less than ten days before the performance, please collect your tickets from the Ticket Office.

How do I reset my online password?

If you have forgotten your password, please follow the links to request an automated reset at bfi.org.uk/myfestival. You will receive an interim password at the email you have registered as your Username on your account. Please note that this email may go direct to your spam or junk folder so please check there if you do not receive the password reset email within a couple of minutes.

When you log in with this interim password, you will be prompted to create a more memorable password straight away. Passwords must contain at least five characters, one digit and one lower and upper case letter and the system will not let you use the last three passwords.

What is my online Username?

Your Username is the email address used to create your online account. If you joined by telephone or in person and provided an email address then an online account should have been created automatically for you.

If your email address is not recognised when you log in then your username will need to be reset – please contact the Ticket Office on 020 7928 3232 (11:30 AM-8:30 PM) or email box.office@bfi.org.uk.

I’m having browser issues when booking online – what shall I do?

You may experience display issues in some browsers and you may be prompted to upgrade your browser. Please upgrade to the highest version of your browser. Tests have shown that the latest versions of Chrome and Firefox work well and if you’re using Internet Explorer you will need to upgrade to Version 9 or above. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I’m having difficulty selecting tickets on the seating plan online – what shall I do?

This is most likely due to a browser issue so you may need to upgrade to the latest version of your browser (see above). Alternatively, please select the Best Seats Available tab and the system will allocate seats to your booking. Sorry for any inconvenience.

I’m a Member but I cannot access priority booking when I log in – what do I do?

You should always log in with your email (username) and password at bfi.org.uk/myfestival before you start booking to ensure you can access booking benefits. Once you’re logged in, you should see the booking dates relevant to you and/or your Membership level displayed on the top right hand corner if the system has recognised your Membership.

If you log in and your Membership level is not displayed it is possible that we have a duplicate record in your name. Please call the Ticket Office on 020 7928 3232 (11:30 AM-8:30 PM) or email box.office@bfi.org.uk.

How can I pay for Festival tickets?

You can pay for your tickets by debit or credit card. We accept American Express®, VISA, Mastercard by all booking methods and we also accept Maestro for in person and telephone bookings. You can also pay by cash in person at the Ticket Office. Sorry but we cannot accept cheque payments for tickets.

Are there any tickets discounts?

Concession tickets are available to Seniors, Students, unwaged and disabled visitors for certain screenings – more information on concession tickets can be found on our tickets page. Please provide proof of your concession status when booking or collecting your tickets.

Can I use my Member Ticket Vouchers?

Champions and Members now have free ticket vouchers automatically applied to their online account as soon as they join or renew. These vouchers can be redeemed against standard-priced BFI Southbank tickets – two for Members and four for Champions – before their next Membership renewal or expiry. Member ticket vouchers cannot be redeemed against Festival tickets.

What are Gift Aid tickets?

The BFI is a registered charity and Gift Aid tickets, which include an optional 10% donation, are a great way to make your support go even further. Gift Aid tickets will always be offered to you first unless a performance is not eligible for Gift Aid. You can easily opt-out if you prefer not to make this contribution.

If you’re a UK tax payer and you buy a Gift Aid ticket then we’ll ask you to declare this so that we can also claim extra income from HMRC on your ticket price. Please note that you can still purchase Gift Aid tickets if you’re not a UK tax payer.

Will I be charged a booking fee?

Booking fees apply to Festival tickets bought online or by telephone and will be charged at £1 per ticket to a maximum of £3 per transaction. BFI Members do not pay booking fees on Champion or Member tickets so please make sure to only select those tickets for you and your guests when booking online to avoid these charges. If you are not offered Champion or Member tickets then you may not be logged in to your Member account correctly so please check the booking troubleshooter above.

Can I pay for my tickets using credit on account?

BFI Members can redeem credit on account against Festival tickets when booking by telephone or in person only.

Can I return my Festival tickets?

We do not offer returns, refunds or exchanges on Festival tickets to any customers including BFI Members.

What are the benefits of Membership?

BFI Membership supports the charitable work of the BFI and Members enjoy great benefits including priority booking for BFI Festivals and BFI Southbank. Find full details of all the levels and benefits of Membership at bfi.org.uk/join.

BFI Members enjoy access to an exclusive monthly programme of events and also now enjoy free BFI Southbank ticket vouchers every year - two for Members and four for Champions. Find full details of what's coming up.

Please note that priority booking does not guarantee that you’ll get all the tickets that you want and Membership is not transferrable or refundable.

How do I join the BFI?

You can join the BFI at bfi.org.uk/join. You can also join at the Ticket Office at BFI Southbank or by calling 020 7928 3232 (11:30 AM-8:30 PM). Become a Member for £48 or a Champion Member for £260 by card or cash payment.

Can I take advantage of Membership benefits straight away?

You can start priority booking by all methods as soon as you’ve joined (or renewed) your Membership. Please note that if you’ve joined online, you’ll need to log in again to book tickets at bfi.org.uk/myfestival.

To priority book online, you’ll need an online account and if you provided an email address when you joined then this will have automatically been created for you. You can log in by entering that email address as your username. If your email address is not recognised, then please email box.office@bfi.org.uk who will reset your username as soon as they can.

If you do not know your password, please follow the instructions on screen to request a password be emailed to you. You will be prompted to change to a more memorable password the first time you log in. Please see the booking troubleshooter above.

You’ll need to show a valid Membership card to take advantage of discounts and other benefits at BFI Southbank. Your card should reach you within 28 days of joining or renewing but please request a temporary card at the Ticket Office if you visit in the meantime.

My Membership has lapsed, how do I renew to get priority booking?

If your Membership has lapsed and you’d like to take advantage of Festival priority booking, we recommend that you join again at bfi.org.uk/join. You’ll be prompted to log in with your email (username) and password so please try to use the same details as previously to avoid creating a duplicate on the system as this could cause issues when you try to access priority booking. If you have any issues logging in, please email box.office@bfi.org.uk.

We can only accept payments by card, cheque or cash until 1 March 2019 when we will also offer Direct Debit payments at a discount.

Please note that once you’ve completed this transaction, you will need to log in again to book tickets at bfi.org.uk/myfestival.

How do I upgrade my Membership?

You can upgrade your Membership to take advantage of extra priority booking benefits. Members can upgrade to Champion Membership to take advantage of extra priority booking benefits for only £212 (usual price £260) at bfi.org.uk/championoffers.

Age restrictions

Children under 15 are not permitted to attend any Festival screenings unless the film has received a lower BBFC certificate or is part of our designated family strand. All screenings marked ‘F’ on the Festival Calendar are suitable for families.

Some films in the Festival programme are only suitable for over 18s due to graphic content. Films containing graphic material are indicated as clearly as possible on our website and will be flagged when purchasing tickets.
