From its humble beginnings in 1986 to its global standing today, BFI Flare has been a vital space for LGBTQIA+ stories on screen and a cherished community space off screen. This exhibition traces the festival’s evolution, celebrating the milestones and the filmmakers who have shaped a bold cinematic legacy of visibility, resistance and joy across 40 years.
