British film pioneer Robert Paul was born in London 150 years ago this month. After an accidental start in ‘animated photography’, he established the first real film studio in North London in 1898, and with his wife Ellen made over 700 films, creating the foundations for what we take for granted as cinema today. In this unique anniversary celebration, Ian Christie will reveal the hidden history behind this genius pioneer, highlighting recent discoveries and restorations from around the world.
