Synopsis

Harlan, Kubrick’s brother-in-law, and one of his closest collaborators – from the preparation of the aborted Napoleon in 1969 up to Eyes Wide Shut – was the ideal person to direct this portrait. The clips are wonderfully chosen, the interviews include Paul Mazursky (who played in Fear and Desire), Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg and Woody Allen, and there is even home-movie footage of Kubrick as a child, shot by his father, and excerpts from the only filmed document on Kubrick at work (on The Shining) by his younger daughter Vivian.
