We meet Rudolph Nureyev (Ivenko) – who would become one of ballet’s brightest stars – as an electrifying and impulsive young dancer in the early 1960s, when the finest Soviet dancers are sent to Paris. It’s there that Nureyev, culturally ravenous and unapologetically ambitious, falls in love with the city and its intelligentsia, which draws the attention of the KGB.
