Gross Indecency

Two Gentlemen Sharing

Ted Kotcheff’s compellingly strange, rarely seen drama about a man forced to revise his prejudices.

UK 1969
Dir Ted Kotcheff
With Robin Phillips, Judy Geeson, Hal Frederick, Esther Anderson, Ram John Holder
Certificate 15

Racial barriers are tested in Kotcheff’s compellingly strange, rarely seen adaptation of David Stuart Leslie’s 1963 novel. Roddy (Phillips) is forced to confront his prejudices by new roommate Emjo (Frederick), a black Jamaican Oxford graduate. Look out for an incredible Notting Hill dancehall scene, and Holder’s predatory queen Marcus: a notable if rather troubling breakthrough for a black actor in a gay role.

The screening on Thursday 10 August 18:10 features a Q&A with actors Ram John Holder and Esther Anderson (work permitting).
