Fresh from the Oscar-winning triumph of Midnight Cowboy, Schlesinger swapped jaded hustlers for a progressive queer love triangle set in affluent, bohemian London. Middle-aged doctor Daniel (Finch) and fiercely intelligent divorcee Alex (Jackson) vie for the affections of handsome young artist Bob (Head). Penelope Gilliatt’s dauntless script refuses to problematise Bob’s bisexuality, Daniel’s homosexuality, or the age gap, leaving space for a rich dissection of human relationships.

The screening on Monday 21 August 18:10 features a Q&A with actor Murray Head (work permitting).
