Professor Marston and the Wonder Women + discussion
You’ll never see Wonder Woman’s golden lasso in quite the same way again!
Unfortunately Emma Vieceli can no longer participate in this discussion due to conflicting commitments. We are delighted that comic book publisher and retailer Nora Goldberg will now join the discussion.

With Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall, Bella Heathcote
The queerest of superhero origin tales, Professor Marston is based on the life of the man who invented Wonder Woman in the 1940s as ‘propaganda for a new type of woman’, and the secret long-term polyamorous relationship he had with the two women who inspired him. With an excellent cast, the film seductively imagines the trio’s love story, their link to early feminism and dalliance with sadomasochism. You’ll never see the golden lasso in quite the same way again!
Join us for a post-screening discussion, in which we’ll share responses to the film, consider Wonder Woman as a queer and feminist icon, and chat about LGBT comic book culture more broadly. BFI Flare programmer Emma Smart will be joined by comic book publisher and retailer Nora Goldberg and film scholar Lisa Purse - but we also want to hear thoughts from you, the audience!
