Blu-ray Launch: Early Women Filmmakers Collection

This special evening includes short films, plus a discussion on the innovations of these moving-image pioneers.

We are delighted to announce that film writer and lecturer Ellen Cheshire, BFI silent film curator Bryony Dixon and film scholar Virginie Selavy will join us for this event hosted by film critic Pamela Hutchinson.

Join us to celebrate the work of women filmmaker pioneers, including Alice Guy-Blaché, Lois Weber, Germaine Dulac and many more. This special evening will include screenings of selected short films and extracts illustrating the innovative and boundary-pushing nature of their work, plus a discussion with guest speakers who will explore their individual approaches to filmmaking and their contributions to the history of cinema.

The BFI’s Early Women Filmmakers Collection 4-disc Blu-ray set will be available from Mon 17 June.
