Jane Campion’s romantic and delicate biopic of the poet John Keats.
Dir Jane Campion
With Ben Whishaw, Abbie Cornish, Kerry Fox, Paul Schneider
Jane Campion’s quietly moving chronicle of the final years of poet John Keats, and in particular his relationship with Fanny Brawne, impresses on several levels: the assurance and delicacy with which the pair’s blossoming love is depicted; the persuasive recreation of life in early 19th-century Hampstead; the deft use of Keats’ verse and letters to complement the story; and the rapt central performances.
The screening on Wednesday 3 October will be introduced by Nikki Baughan, film journalist and contributing editor, Screen International.
