Three youths, three murders, three cities…
Dir Michelangelo Antonioni
With Jean-Pierre Mocky, Franco Interlenghi, Anna Maria Ferrero, Patrick Barr
Certificate Advised 18
Three episodes – set respectively in Paris, Rome and London – inspired by recent, apparently motiveless murders perpetrated by young ‘delinquents’ see Antonioni taking a typically detached approach to questions of cause or psychology: no explanations are offered for the crimes. Rather, the killers’ relationships to the world around them are examined in terms of space and mood. Unsurprisingly, the film met with censorship troubles.
