The Unloved

Samantha Morton’s directorial debut is a raw and emotional drama of great sensitivity.

UK 2009
Dir Samantha Morton
With Molly Windsor, Robert Carlyle, Lauren Socha
106min
Certificate 15

After more than a decade of spectacular performances in both Britain and America, Samantha Morton made her debut as a director with this stunning portrait of an 11-year-old Nottingham girl taken into care. Emotionally visceral, The Unloved is nonetheless a beautiful film, told from a child’s point of view and made with a true cinematic eye – it needs to be seen on the big-screen. We’re pleased to welcome Samantha Morton to the BFI stage following the screening to discuss her filmmaking experiences.

We are sorry to announce that Samantha Morton is now unable to be present for a Q&A following this screening. We apologise for any disappointment.

Joint ticket available with Morvern Callar Friday 28 September £15, concs £12 (Members pay £2 less).
