Probably the greatest of all British crime thrillers, The Long Good Friday also had an uncanny eye for changing times – it’s a story of terrorism and organised villainy unfolding against the dawn of Thatcherism and the redevelopment of Docklands. Powerfully written by Barrie Keeffe, it also gave a signature role to a true working-class star – the much-loved Bob Hoskins, cast as ganglord Harold Shand.

Due to a change in his work schedule, Steven Knight is no longer able to attend.
