Though she had taken over (uncredited) the direction of Not Wanted when Elmer Clifton fell ill, this was Lupino’s official directorial debut, and is typically an ‘issue movie.’ Co-written with her then-husband and fellow producer Collier Young, it centres on a professional dancing couple about to marry, and the deleterious effects on their relationship when the woman is diagnosed with polio.
