This six-session evening course will investigate the changing culture around women’s filmmaking. It’s inspired by our Girlfriends season, our regular Woman With a Movie Camera strand and recent data on women’s roles in the industry revealed by the BFI’s UK Filmography. The sessions will be led by BFI curators and programmers, who will discuss their research and programming practice in the context of recent critical debates around women’s filmmaking and film history.
