Film critic Christina Newland will present on the movement’s key screen figure Anna Magnani. Professor Catherine O’Rawe will explore the women who started out via unorthodox means, from beauty queens like Silvana Mangano to the non-professionals of Visconti’s La terra trema. And Senior Research Associate Carla Mereu Keating will discuss the trajectories of women involved in production, including screenwriter Suso Cecchi D’Amico.
