Visconti and his Cinema: Decadence & Decay Season Launch

A season introduction event exploring the themes emerging in the work of Luchino Visconti.

We are delighted to announce that fashion historian Matteo Augello, film scholar Stephen Gundle and art historian Lara Pucci will join season curator Christina Newland for this event.

Season curator and film critic Christina Newland, joined by a panel of special guests, takes an illustrated journey through the life and films of Luchino Visconti – from the lesser-known gems to the canonical classics, with particular attention paid to his unique relationship to fashion and costume design, queer desire and sexuality, and the broad canvas of 20th century Italian history.
