Under the Skin
Scarlett Johansson is excellent as the enigmatic alien prowling Scottish streets for her prey.
Dir Jonathan Glazer
With Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy McWilliams, Paul Brannigan, Adam Pearson
Visually and aurally audacious, Under the Skin is a dramatic departure from Jonathan Glazer’s previous work (Birth, Sexy Beast). This enigmatic sci-fi is a brilliant amalgam of fantasy and reality, it’s both creepy and luminous in its metaphysical precision, and Johansson is nothing short of spectacular as the alien creature who stalks human prey. With visual nods to Kubrick and a similar use of licence in his approach to adaptations, this is a contemporary classic.
