TV Comedy: a GCSE Study Day
Wed 21 Feb 2018 10:30 – 15:30
NFT1, BFI Southbank
This event is intended for teachers and students only.
This event will be focused on OCR’s GCSE TV Comedy module and throughout the day, students will be taken through case studies from a range of current comedy TV programmes with a specific focus on how they target audiences and their institutional contexts. The clip-based presentation will be supplemented by a number of interactive activities designed to help students understand channel identity, commissioning briefs and audience pleasures. The session will also include an appropriate screening and an afternoon Q&A session with an industry professional, giving students and teachers the chance to ask their own questions. The event will be informed by the exam boards’ examiners reports, and teachers attending this event will be given resources to take away to enable them to build on these case studies in their own lessons in preparation for the exam.
Led by Claire Pollard, Media Studies Teacher, Highams Park School, London and editor of MediaMagazine.
£8 per student; £1 per adult accompanying every 5 students; for any additional adult the student rate applies. £40 for teachers attending without students.
