In pre-WWII Poland, a Warsaw theatre company prepares to perform Gestapo, which satirises Nazi Germany. With the imminent threat of invasion looming, the troupe find themselves performing for their lives when the inevitable happens and art imitates life. Both highly comic and tensely dramatic, To Be or Not to Be doesn’t shy away from the hard truths of the time, and proves to be as funny as it is compelling.
