Edith Bowman hosts a special live edition of her acclaimed podcast, with guest Lorne Balfe.
Join Edith Bowman for a special live edition of her acclaimed podcast Soundtracking, where she sits down with a variety of film directors, actors, producers and composers to talk about the music that inspired them and how they use music in their films, from their current release to key moments in their career.
In this edition Edith will chat to Grammy winning composer Lorne Balfe. In May this year, Balfe wrote an intensely foreboding score for National Geographic’s first-ever scripted series, Genius, with Geoffrey Rush as Albert Einstein and Samantha Colley as Einstein’s first wife and one of the only women pursuing a science degree in the 1890s.
Balfe cowrote the main title theme with Academy Award-winning composer Hans Zimmer, a collaboration that has occurred over many films, including The Dark Knight, where Balfe provided music and produced the score, which earned Balfe and Zimmer a Grammy Award for best score soundtrack.
Balfe’s filmography boasts an incredible breadth of titles, ranging from major studio blockbusters (such as Ghost in the Shell and Terminator Genisys) to independent films, tentpole video game franchises (Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, BAFTA nominated for Best Original Music), beloved animated feature films, critically acclaimed television series and documentary features.
