An inspirational documentary about the New York-born, Jamaica-raised singer, actor, activist and producer. Inspired by his mentor Paul Robeson, Belafonte became a world-class entertainer, the first million-selling recording artist and a Hollywood titan. From his early years, he was closely involved with Martin Luther King, Jr’s civil rights movement, a political partnership that led to a life of global activism up to his death, at 96, in April 2023. This film is an account of his extraordinary endurance and achievements.
The screening will feature an extended illustrated season intro with Burt Caesar, season curator and a Q&A with director Susanne Rostock, Legacy Media Institute Founding Director Tim Reid, writer and activist Candace Allen and actor Clarke Peters.
