Don Lockwood (Kelly) and Lina Lamont (Hagen) are hugely successful silent film stars, but there are huge changes around the corner with the advent of sound technology and the arrival of a young actress who catches Lockwood’s eye. MGM’s glorious Technicolor musical – nominated for Best Scoring of a Musical Picture and Best Supporting Actress for Hagen – is considered one of the greatest musicals of all time, with many iconic song-and-dance sequences beautifully delivered by Kelly, O’Connor and Reynolds.
