In 1937, during a Japanese air raid on Shanghai, a soldier meets a young woman under a bridge and in complete darkness. They vow to meet again after the war, even though each doesn’t know what the other looks like. Ten years later, they end up in the same building and unwittingly fall in love. Restored to mark its 40th anniversary, Shanghai Blues is one of Tsui Hark’s most beloved films – an irresistible and lively romantic comedy with an all-star cast.
